Today at 3 pm Pinkoa was just a word. By 9 pm it was a real shop with a study timer, printable downloads, merch, a blog, legal pages and a pink koala called Koa. Here is how that happened.
It started with a Finnish word
Pinkoa is Finnish for "to study hard", the kind of studying you do the night before an exam. We had the domain pinkoa.com and one idea: what if studying felt a little bit cuter? Pink + koala = Pinkoa, and Koa was born.
The build, step by step
- Planning (about 30 minutes): one plan for everything: a free study timer as the heart of the site, printables, merch and daily pink content.
- Koa and the brand (about 1 hour): the koala character, the pink palette, the wordmark and 15 sticker and print designs.
- The study timer (about 45 minutes): a free pomodoro timer in English, German and Finnish. Koa cheers when you finish a round.
- Printables (about 1 hour): a 30-page coloring book, a study planner, pink wallpapers and a free starter pack.
- Shop setup (about 1.5 hours): Shopify, payments, legal pages, collections and menus.
- Merch (about 1 hour): mugs, stickers, a koala tote, a tee and a sweatshirt, printed on demand in Europe.
- Blog and social (about 30 minutes): 12 blog posts and 90 days of pink colour posts, ready to go.
Total: about 6 hours, from a word to a working shop.
Built with an AI helper
Most of the heavy lifting was done together with Claude, an AI assistant. It drew Koa, wrote the timer, made the printables, set up the shop and even wrote the first draft of this post. Our job was mostly to say "yes", "more pink" and "make it cuter". It was one of the most fun days we've had in a long time.
