Big news from Georgia: two giant pandas just landed in Atlanta, and the internet is losing its mind. Koa, our pink koala, saw the headlines, looked at her own travel history (one tote bag, zero private jets) and asked for a moment.

The news, in 30 seconds
- Giant pandas Ping Ping (male) and Fu Shuang (female) landed at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport on Sunday morning, 27 September, on the "FedEx Panda Express", a Boeing 777.
- Both were born in 2020 and are on a 10-year loan from China to Zoo Atlanta.
- Zoo Atlanta said goodbye to its last pandas in 2024, so this is a big comeback for the city.
- Visitors have to wait: the pair will spend about a month in quarantine first, and there is no opening date yet.

Panda vs Koa: who studies harder?
| Giant panda | Koa (koala) | |
|---|---|---|
| Is it a bear? | Yes | No! Koalas are marsupials |
| Main job | Eating bamboo 12+ hours a day | Sleeping, up to around 20 hours a day |
| Colour scheme | Black and white | Pink (obviously) |
| Travel | A Boeing 777 | Standing room only |
| Study style | The long grind | Short focus, long recovery |
Honest verdict: both are doing it right. The student version is simple: focus hard for a short block, then really rest. That's a Pomodoro, and it's exactly what the free Koa timer does: 25 minutes of focus, 5 minutes of break.

The panda quarantine is basically a study hall
A month in a quiet area, no visitors, regular snacks. That's not quarantine, that's exam prep. Koa's study-hall rules for your next big study month:
- Phone in another room. Out of sight really is out of mind.
- One snack station, within arm's reach, so you don't wander to the kitchen every 10 minutes.
- Four Pomodoros, then a proper break. Get up, stretch, look out of the window.
- Lights out early. Sleep is when your brain files away what you learned that day.
Rule 4 is where Koa is the undisputed champion. (She even has a pillow that says "Study hard, nap harder". She means it.)

Koa's reaction
Pandas get a 777. Koa gets a tote bag. She's fine. She's totally fine.

Shade of the day: Panda-Proof Pink
Black and white goes with everything, but pink goes with black and white even better. Try a soft pink highlighter on black-ink notes, or a pink sticky tab on a white page: it makes the important bits jump out when you revise.
