Tonight Europe gets a tiny present: one extra hour. On Sunday 25 October 2026 summer time ends. At 03:00 in Berlin (04:00 in Helsinki) the clocks jump back to 02:00 (03:00 in Helsinki). Your phone and laptop do it by themselves. Your oven clock, your wall clock and that old alarm clock on the shelf do not.
Koa has thought hard about this hour. Spoiler: some of it is a nap.

What actually happens on Sunday?
All EU countries switch at the same moment, 01:00 UTC. So Germany, Finland and the rest of the EU move back to "winter time" together, and the sun sets about an hour earlier by the clock from Sunday on. In late October that means dark afternoons arrive fast, which changes how a study day feels.
5 small ways to keep your study rhythm
1. Decide what the extra hour is for, today
An hour you didn't plan usually disappears into scrolling. Pick one thing now: sleeping in, a slow breakfast, or two calm focus rounds on the topic you keep pushing back. All three are good answers.
2. Keep your usual start time on Monday
The easiest way to get used to a new clock is to treat Monday like any other Monday: same alarm, same first task. Write tomorrow's first task on a sticky note tonight so future-you doesn't have to think.
3. Move one study block into the daylight
From Monday the sun sets before 17:00 in Berlin and around 16:30 in Helsinki, so afternoons get short. If you can, put your hardest block before lunch and save the easy stuff (flashcards, tidying notes) for the dark evening.
4. Make the evening desk cosy, not sleepy
A warm desk lamp, a tidy surface and a blanket over your knees make dark evenings feel like a choice, not a punishment. Koa's current favourite is a pink pumpkin sherpa blanket, because it is October and she has no shame.
5. Count rounds, not hours
On a day that is 25 hours long, "I studied 3 hours" means even less than usual. Counting finished focus rounds keeps it simple. The free Pinkoa timer counts them for you (no account, no sign-up), and after a round you can share your Koa Focus Card if you want to brag a little.
Bonus: a spooky-cosy week ahead
Halloween is on Saturday. Until 31 October, Koa's pink Halloween study printables are free: planners, bookmarks and wallpapers, no email needed.
Shade of the day: no. 27 Cerise
Cerise, #DE3163. A deep cherry pink that looks great next to orange, cream and gold. Basically a pumpkin's best friend.
Pinkoa (Finnish): to run fast, and in student slang, to study hard. Tonight you can do neither and just enjoy the extra hour.
Last call: the launch-month code KOA20 (20% off) ends on Sunday 25 October at 23:59 Berlin time.
